WC Chamber March Luncheon

Our Guest Speaker will be Sherry Lemon, Wise County Clerk for 31 years, “A Champion of Leadership and Service for our County.”

About Sherry Lemon:
Sherry was born and raised in Bridgeport and has lived in Wise County all her life except for 12 years. While residing in Monahans, Ward County she worked 10 years in the County Clerk’s office and was cross trained for every process of the office including holding elections.
After the loss of close family members, she and her family returned to her home county to be close to family. The County Clerk announced her retirement in December of 1990 and Sherry, after much prayer and encouragement from her family, decided to run for office. She had three opponents in the Primary and also an opponent in a Runoff election and the General Election.
She took office in January 1991 and has held the office since with only an opponent in the last primary.
Locally, she is a member of the local chambers of commerce, a charter member of Area Business Womens Network and Past President of Decatur Lions Club.
As a member of the County and District Clerks Association of Texas she was elected Area Director covering 33 counties for a two-year term. She has also been a frequent speaker at the clerk’s conferences.
