Wise County’s southern-most city, Newark, is located near the northern shores of Eagle Mountain Lake.
South Wise County Park, located just west of the city on County Road 4873, offers a public boat ramp, picnic tables and plenty of shore line for bank fishing.
For nearly three decades, the major community event has been the annual Cruisin’ Days festival in the fall. The ’50s and ’60s-themed event features a parade, carnival rides, games, vendors, barbecue, a dance and more.
