Most people don’t think of New Fairview as being the largest city in Wise County. But if you are basing the definition on land area, no other city in the county is as large as the nearly 16 square miles that make up New Fairview.
Much of that is by design. City ordinance requires a minimum lot size of 1 acre per home in subdivisions, which helps ensure a rural atmosphere. New Fairview also does not have city property taxes.
